Some comments on Arizona's effort at the National Matches
The Arizona Pistol Team, mostly from PRGC met up at Canton OH for 3 days of matches before heading on the Camp Perry just in time for the first shot ceremony which included a fly by from a B25 and a corsair from the Museum in Port Clinton. The team mostly shot bullseye pistol .22, center fire, .45 and revolver, a few shot air pistol too. There was also one shooter from AZ who only shot air pistol. John Z won some awards, Rob F collected his distinguished badge in some event. Bill P did not.

Ron P of Flagstaff was us there for smallbore and coincidentally was in the hut right next to the pistol shooters. CMP smallbore was going on that week too.

After Pistol, the Junior and Adult rifle shooters started arriving.

Most of us shot the CMP cup matches, 3 days of 80 shot high power matches. Then a 4-man team match.

The 3rd week was The National Trophy Matches, the most prestigious shooting event in the western hemisphere. The National Trophy Individual, the President's Match, the Hearst Trophy Team Match, the National Junior Trophy Team match, the National Trophy Team Match and the National Trophy Infantry Team Match.

Two Arizona shooters were in the top 100 of the President's match. One AZ Junior was in the top 10% of the NTI match, earning "Leg" points and becoming a distinguished rifleman.

Arizona was ready with an adult team and a junior team for both the NTT and NTIT teams. However CMP rules require that in-competition teams include one "new" shooter (1st or 2nd time shooting that match at Perry), we did not have a new shooter so the adults entered "out of competition".

NTT is the "six man team" a 50 shot across the course match 200-300-600 yds.
NTIT is "rattle battle" all rapid fire starting at 600yds and moving forward.

On thursday, match day, the rain was so hard CMP first delayed the postponed the NTT to Friday (and NTIT to Saturday). But 2 of our adults and one of our juniors were scheduled to leave on friday so we recovered by assigning replacement shooters, one AZ adult and one from another state (Maryland) and one junior from California. Everyone almost was leaving on Saturday since Friday's NTIT had been rescheduled to Saturday, AZ had to forfeit that one.
