Cannon and Crew needed!

cannon at Pery

At the National Championships at Camp Perry OH, each days match begins with a ceremony called "colors"

I would like to conduct a similar ceremony here in Phoenix at the beginning of our state championships

This will be at the High power Range at Ben Avery Shooting Facility at I-17 & Carefree hwy in north Phoenix.

it will consist of a cannon shot first thing in the morning at 200 yds. immediately followed by a flag raising (either on a windage flag pole or on a temporary flagpole on the range-master tower) and the playing of the national anthem while the competitors stand at attention.

I would like a crew, probably civil war re-enactors, with a full size cannon to conduct a "colors" ceremony. The crew can wear any uniform, blue or grey is acceptable, however it will be a modern US flag that is raised. The flag raising can be handled by the crew of volunteer re-enactors, by volunteer boy scouts or by our own junior team. We can probably find our own flag and music and player. BUT we need a CANNON and volunteer crew!

I would like this service at one or more of our state matches (by priority)

We cannot afford to pay more than a token amount, perhaps we can pay for 2 to 4 re-enactors range fees at Ben Avery's Public range so they can go shoot their percussion rifles and cap and ball revolvers for the rest of the day :)

If you know of a group of artillery re-enactors who would like to perform this ceremony, we'd love to hear form you

THANKS!

There is camping available At Ben Avery, restrooms and usually some food available at the main range or at the competition range.
